The Travels of the Wee King
Avery is an English surname taken from the French, Alfred. Its meaning is derived from the Old English words aelf, meaning elf, and raed, meaning counsel. Thus, Avery means Elf Ruler or Elf King. How fitting!
Avery toured the east coast, communing with small creatures. Here he is at a bird sanctuary calling to the frogs.
He begged me to make him a crown of clover.

He begged me to make him a crown of clover.
And then bossed around some ants and sow bugs.
Making Papa proud.
Oh! One of his subjects.
He led us to a tree in Plymouth, where he claimed Mr. Bumps resides.
Knock knock. Are you home, Mr. Bumps? (The story of Mr. Bumps has been told in my family for 4 generations, honestly.)
Perched atop his mossy pulpit for a brief elf address.
Life is good when you are king.

Boats, Beaches, & Brothers
Avery had a thrilling four days with Reid and Liam.
We walked downtown for the Fourth of July festivities.
Some of us dressed up as patriotic "Lemur Fish."
Opa and Liam check out the water fight: fire department vs. kids of Nantucket.
Boating! Avery wears a little life jacket and enjoys the salty spray.
Beaching!
Naomi, Tim, and Christine create the Liam Monster (or Beach Buddha).
Cephalopod sighting! Several squid showed up and ignited our curiosity.
Outdoor baths for little people make great pictures.
Naomi and Emmet play us a little concert. Avery is mesmerized in Mimi's arms.
