First Garden Harvest!
Our first harvest this spring: a wee King-of-the-Elves!
We collected the wee King and other herbs in our garden basket.
Avery enjoying his herb garden.

Chris got a few loads of topsoil and leveled it with rake.

Leaving home without a spare diaper and wipes is like getting a flat tire, only a little worse.
We were in Target's dressing room (not a place about which I'd usually post an entry). The first dilemma was what to do with Avery while I tried on post-maternity garb. The saleswoman suggested I prop him in the cart.
Okay. So he is slumped in the cart but happy.
I am trying on shirts.
When suddenly,
I hear splat!
Who knew that poop could travel around the diaper and down the leg like this?
And who knew that in Target, the Land O' Plenty, with diapers and wipes right around the corner, I would be improvising with a burp rag?
We laughed a lot.
And he went pantless, of course, because who brings an extra set of pants with them?
Another day in the life of Mr. Avery "no pants" Hanson.

Projects!
Chris's spring break in a single photo: deck chaise to stain, bee box to build, dresser to repair, and irrigation system to install.
The irrigation system spans the length of the entire yard.
The pipes had to make several turns, go under a wall and under a poured cement walkway.
Lauren, Tommy, and Michael helped dig out onion grass to make way for our lawn.
Ladybugs eat aphids, we've heard, so we invited one over.
We built the frames of our bee box ourselves. One hour. Saturday night. Baby monitor.
Ready to be added to the lower half of our hive in which the queen will lay larvae.
Next up: sod installation!
