Spring Break

Spring break is a lovely change in routine for 10 days. This year, our breaks aligned perfectly so we could do some family adventuring to the east coast.

Avery's first Easter egg hunt. Uncle Peter strategically hid the eggs.

Everyone loves smocked bunnies.

Okay, this needs explanation, but I will let you create your own caption...

Our trip ended with dear friends, Rachel & Jeff.
They had just welcomed Jules Gray 5 days before.

Spring!

Avery has now hosted his first house concert! Yogoman Burning Band graced us with their horns and drums last weekend. We had a packed house and our little fan was right up front.

Avery arranged flowers for the first time.

Around the House; Above the House

We are excitedly preparing for a frontyard make-over. Our neighbor, Sonia, is a landscaper who made us a fantastic plan. First step is to prep the area by removing the ivy and grass.
The front seems so much bigger now.

The before pic (our modest plantings from last spring)

By the end of Saturday, the whole front was cleared of grass, pittosporum, and roughly terraced. We had two guys helping Chris (so this picture is a bit misleading...)
Next up: Napa Basalt rock walls and three boulders.

The plan!

Meanwhile, some of us could care less about azaleas and woodwardia fimbriata.

Above house project: insulating the attic. Chris is such a trooper, crawling into narrow spaces with mask and goggles. He has completed most of the living and dining room space.

Recent festivities around the house: Chris's birthday jam with Govinda, Zach, Nikko, and Avery.

And when he isn't bathing, he is working quite hard.

When Pigs Fly

We realized that Mr. Pig needs his paper legs to properly hover. Once the paper legs were ripped off, Avery was shocked that when he tossed his pig into the air, it never came back down. For the exact moment this happened, watch this VIDEO
