New Chicks!

We got new baby chicks on Saturday! Avery picked out 4 Barred Rocks, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Rhode Island Reds. They are going to lay eggs for us in about 5 months. Our coop is empty as our last 2 chickens were killed by a raccoon a few weeks ago.  With a few repairs, the coop will soon house the next batch. Until then, the chicks will live in our den in a large plastic bin.

Music Makers

It's almost Thursday.
And Thursday is our favorite day because we spend a leisurely morning
making an involved breakfast, taking a walk, and going to music class.

Avery and friend, Jude, collect all the drums they can and then Zeal joins in for some rhythm making!

The lullaby at the end of class is great time for cuddling.

Z: Growing Up!

Zeal is sitting up and starting some solid foods (or at least, gumming his spoon).

And he's going for long walks with Mama in the hiking backpack.

Family Band, Mermaid Madness, Avocado Drop

Sometimes, a video says it all.
Here is Avery's Jamberry music rendition.
Little brothers are obsessed with big brothers. (The Quirk Warings are right!)

And Avery received a Barbie Mermaid for his birthday. Yes, I shamelessly purchased this item at Target. There is so much wrong with that sentence that I will just leave it at that. Lauren clearly had as much fun with this new toy as Avery.

And Zeal is eating! Well, sort of. He's also getting the hang of entertaining his big brother.

Come on in, the water is fine!

Avery celebrated his 3rd birthday!
January 12

Zeal has perfected two looks. This one is SURPRISED.

This one is SHOCKED.

Zeal and cousin Carolina (she's exactly one month older.)

The party featured an underwater world collage mural project. We used the paper Avery and painted with our hands in the previous post. The kids decorated the fish and tossed them into the water.

Cake time!
