Octopus's Garden

Kite flying this Sunday at the Berkeley Marina.
We found a more impressive kite than our own.
And we just couldn't resist...

Brave Explorers

We have the good fortune of having several adventurous older kids in our neighborhood who Avery looks up to. Last week, he got to see some good old-fashioned fun: exploring the storm drains.

Someday, he will be old enough to do this.

Labor Day in Tahoe

We have spent a fair amount of time at the Squaw Valley cabin this summer, re-decorating it with Chris's parents' retro furniture and Montana relics. We are preparing the cabin for rental, and it's now on VRBO and Air B & B.
While we were there for Labor Day, we did some biking, swimming, and friend visiting.

Christine's first paddleboarding.

Zeal's first sunglasses.

On the left is Jay Wells, one of Chris's brother's best childhood friends.

Avery with Jay's son and Marcus's sons. All of these boys' fathers grew up together in Redwood City.
They are examining a dead crayfish.

Just going somewhere with take-out.

The cabin is now ready!

Back-Track to the Summer; Nantucket

We would be remiss to skip our Nantucket blog entry.
We spent time with Boston besties, Jeff, Rachel, Jules, and baby on the way.
And then we had 2 more weeks with Mimi, Opa, and Uncle Peter.

Avery and Jules preparing chlallah for Shabbat dinner.

Playing corn hole at the Brewery.

Ice cream in town.

It's so hard to get a decent familiy photo these days.

And then we got some blackmail shots of Peter.

The little sailor did quite well is his lifejacket.

The viewing tank at the Mariah Mitchell Aquarium. A shark.

Creek exploring in the Nuveranian boat.

Avery spent an hour at the Nantucket Cottage Hospital and did not need stitches, just a butterfly bandage.

Family time, waiting for the doctor's orders.

Avery's first afternoon sail on Lucky Pierre. Opa and Papa were his crew.
Mimi, Zeal, and Mama followed behind in a motorboat.

Every boatride was followed by an ice cream at the snack bar.

Snapping turtles at Snapping Turtle Pond. They were quite excited by our bread.

We went to a bonfire concert at our new friends' house.

Enchanted and up very late.

See you next summer...
