Spring comes (late) to Nantucket

We finally put away most of our winter wear (though it is sometimes still windy enough to warrant a light down jacket), and we are enjoying a really green island. The constantly whipping wind from the northeast is gone. The sun rises very very early. And we are taking many walks and thinking it was worth the wait.

Craig Campbell - 100 years!

Great Aunt and Uncle Craig and Margi Campbell.

These two were such special people to us. Margi passed away 3 years ago and Craig just died this spring, having reached 100 years in February. Pops was a jovial storyteller till the very end. He was sharp and involved, sending political emails and volunteering at the library. He loved visits, and because we were only a ferry ride away, we visited him often this year. He was an important paternal figure for all of us. He walked my mother down the aisle when she married my father. He and Marmar raised six children (five sons, then one daughter), and I loved bringing my sons to him. It was as if he blessed them each time. He is the son of Vivian Zeal (Zeal's namesake). He is already sorely missed.

Here is my Mom at his side on his 100th birthday.

I got to tell him how important he is to me.
