Basil

Aside from Ralph, the most tolerant kitty of the 80s and 90s, there was another kitty who stole my heart in 2003: Basil.

Basil, always a renegade with his raspy voice and rambling ways. He was born in Oberlin, Ohio in 2003 beneath Jack Knight's Dry Cleaning. He lived most of his life outside due to his adventuring nature and vocality. 

He was tolerant of stalking children,

ambulant children,

head-locking children,

and snuggling children.

Last week, Basil got very sick. We believe it was kidney failure because of his low weight, white gums, and weakened state. We took him to the vet for the gift of a peaceful death.

Our neighbor, Astrid, felt very close to Basil.

We already miss you, sweet Basil.
